Glenn wins Cappies 2011
Glenn Nugteren is the winner of Cappies 2011. He will work as the NSGK Child ambassador this upcoming year.
It was en exciting night, full of spectacular performances, surprises, overwhelming talent and even a little pure magic! The 5 finalists have performed incredible acts this evening.
"You can be a lot of fun, with a disability", Rosa (12) explains. Despite her unfulgrown lower arm she loves to dance. She dances the night away and gets a great suprise, when multi-talent Kim-Lian van der Meij comes on stage to hand her the Cappies medal.
Sophie (11) loves to show her skills. She has spina bifida and is a great swimmer. SpangaS actors Sebastiaan Wullf and Jasper Gottlieb surprised her with a double treat. They admitted their crush on Sophie and brought along a real champion Moniek Nijhuis, European Champion swimmer, who handed the medail to Sophie.
Sam (13) has a motoric disability, but enjoys showing his love for music. On his djembe he enchanted the entire audience. His surprise visit was his big idol Jan Vayne, who spoke highly of Sam and gave him his medal.
Glenn (11) was born without arms, but is a real show-stealer with his amazing performance on the magic flute. With his touching melody he convinced the audience and the judges of his winning mentality. His big idol Gordon came on stage to present the medal.
Frederique (10) has a spastic disorder and loves sports. She plays ping-pong and soccer. On stage she played a game with Ping Pong champions Britt Eerland and Bar Hergelinck. Ola Toivonen, star player with PSV, surprised the soccer fanatic with a visit and a medal. It made her year!
The judges, Jochem van Gelder, Monique Smit and Levi van Kempen, had a rough night. How do you choose between these amazing talents? In the end they chose Glenn, not only for his amazing talent, but mostly because of his clear presentation of his ambassadors wish - to make schools accesible for all childern.
The show came to the grande finale with a special magic performance when the Angels worked their magic and Jochem van Gelder appeared out of nowhere, with the end results. After the winner was announced LA the Voices sang a beautiful medley, to finish the show in style.
